MWCC women’s Centennial Gala a big hit!

The Ladies Centennial year started off with a bang on December 2 with a Gala Dinner attended by more than 60 women, members past and present. Club president Doug Allen presented the women with an anniversary banner, generously donated by the club, to commemorate this most auspicious anniversary.

Among the speakers were Sandra Jones, current Day Ladies President, who shared some interesting and entertaining reflections on the history of women’s curling at Montreal West. Cathy Hughes (Curling Canada Governor and Liaison to Curling Quebec) presented plaques from Curling Canada and Curling Quebec, in recognition of the Day Ladies Branch of MWCC and their contribution to the sport of curling during this last 100 years.

Conversations were animated and much laughter could be heard as many curling and social members, some of whom travelled quite far to be there, enjoyed an exciting reunion. Many warm messages of greeting were sent by women who could not attend, and they were read out during the evening’s programme.
