The First Annual MWCC Doubles Tournament took place April 13 & 14th and was a big hit! Inspired by the addition of Doubles Curling at this year’s Olympic Games, Trish Dempsey & Chris Byrne organized and ran a doubles contest which was both larger in scope and more exciting than expected. Despite time restrictions and schedule challenges, the event was an overall success! The podium teams were awarded medals for their success, and we are currently looking into getting a trophy made for next season. Teams were challenged to come up with a unique photo idea, where they were asked to hold their team sign anywhere within the four walls of the club. The two top photos, as voted on by the Doubles Tournament coordinators, were: “Anne & Alex at the Urinals” and “Gloria Fell Asleep on the Couch and Janet was Pressured to Take a Photo Whilst she Slept [But don’t worry, because she soon woke up and gave us her consent to use the photo!!]” . And the winners were:
- Gold: Mark & Tyler Watson (they also had the best shoot out score!)
- Silver: Alex Hall & Anne Mitchell
- Bronze: Rob Philion & Kelly Gazdewich
- 4th place: Janet Walpole & Gloria Toteda
