On January 7th, 2017 two MWCC curling teams ventured west to challenge Brockville for possession of the prestigious Challenge Cup (1874). The teams tied 17-17 and Brockville retained the cup (last held by MWCC in 1931)
The 2016 Shamrock Bonspiel featured 23 teams from all our club and Sunday rental leagues. The players came decked out in festive costumes and sporting team names from Rick O’Shea to Séamus on ewe. Team Ship O’Fools (Grafton Rink) were the grand winners of the big trophy! Click here for more PIX.
The Quebec Elite Junior Championships (U21) were held at the MWCC between January 4-8, 2016. Congratulations to our own Dominique Jean who skipped her team to a 5-1 record in the round robin and Silver medal in the finals!
The Vice President’s Funspiel was attended by 30 curlers from the regular and Sunday rental leagues. The originally planned “battle of the sexes” was modified due to some last minute cancellations. A good time was had by all!
Two of our junior curling teams competed in the annual Tim Caverly Christmas Bonspiel this past December. Kudos to our Big Rocks Crew who brought home the trophy!!
On Saturday November 21, 168 teams from 16 Montreal area curling clubs participated in the annual Grande Dame and Grand Match contest. MWCC fielded 5 women’s teams placing 6th overall and 8 men’s teams placing 10th overall. Congratulations to all the teams and players who turned out to contribute to this event.
This years’ Open House was a great success with dozens of visitors and potential new members. This year we were honoured to have Dory Yeats, Gold medalist in wrestling from the Pan-Am Games, visit us on Sunday Oct 4th.
