On the first weekend of March, eight players and their families traveled to Schenectady, NY to compete in the annual Schenectady Green Junior Bonspiel. Two MWCC teams played in the tournament:

• “Team Canada, Eh!?” = Tyler Watson, Danny Bell, Chris Byrne & Tyler Rowley
• “Team Québec” = Simon Marcotte, Nathan Shepherd, Jeremy Sheperd & François Gariépy

Team Canada went undefeated, and re-captured their 2017 title as the Schenectady Green Junior Bonspiel champions! Way to go, Boyz! Team Québec also had a perfect 3-0 record in the round robin, and only lost the semi-final game in an extra end. Had the opposing skip not made a perfect hit against three shot rocks, both MWCC teams would have faced off for the trophy! It was certainly an exciting weekend!!

The MWCC crew also presented the Schenectady Curling Club with a unique little rock, created with a 3-D printer! It now sits on the shelf above Sheet C, which has a giant maple leaf on the wall in the shed, next to the Canadian flag and the MWCC plaque that we left with them in 2017!  The camaraderie between our two clubs has existed for a number of years, and a local team from Albany even traveled north to participate in our annual MWCC Junior Leprechaun Bonspiel this past January. Coincidentally, connections were also made with some other American teams, whom we hope to see at future spiels in Massachusetts and maybe even Cape Cod!  (thanks to Trish Dempsey for reporting)
