The 2018 Shamrock Bonspiel featured a smaller field of only 12 teams from all our club (including one team from the  Sunday rental leagues). As usual, the players came decked out in festive costumes and sporting team names from the “Mór-Ríoghain Servers” to “Here 4 the Beer”.

After a full draw on Monday, the bonspiel quickly sorted out to a two division play-down in “A” and “C” divisions. Only one extra end game was needed on Monday as “Paddy O’Furniture” came back from an 8-4 deficit to win in the extra end against the “Irish Scotsmen”. In C division play on Wednesday, the “Mór-Ríoghain Servers” came back to defeat “The Elle O’Quents” in a tense extra end battle. On Thursday, the A semi-final game was particularly exciting as Mark Watson’s “Celtic Rockers” had to steal their way back from a 7-2 deficit to win by one point against Doug Allan and the “Blarney Stoners”. Friday’s Finals were followed by a wonderful Italian dinner and Irish themed trivia quiz organized by Trish Dempsey. Congratulations to all participants!
